False. Strasburg was offered a 12.5 million dollar contract(a record deal, previous record 10.5 million for Mark Prior) earlier in the day, but his camp rejected it. Scott Boras is ridiculous with his contract demands. Since Matt Purke's agent is Scott Boras, I doubt the Rangers can come to an agreement with him.
Strasburg will sign, because the Nationals are so bad that if he doesn't sign with them this year, he will be drafted at #1 by them next year, AND the Nats also have the 2nd pick too, so Strasburg at least knows this. It's his agent that is the tough negotiator.
