Do king charles need a special diet, people have told me to avoid all meat forms,is this true or false, many tha?

i own a king charles and he doesn't have a special diet. We buy him the pedigree senior as he is really old but you can get pedigree puppy and pedigree adult and i think a few more. It is a yellow bag:

You can get pouches and cans aswel but mine prefers dry. The only special requirment for these dogs is to feed them pedigree food, a lot of the other stuff can make them ill. Roast cicken and rice is what we also feed my dog for a special dinner!!

Hope i helped!

JORDAN S - My king charles is 14 in december and is showing no signs of kicking the bucket!!Do king charles need a special diet, people have told me to avoid all meat forms,is this true or false, many tha?
Wow, their dogs probably won't live past 12. Anyways, if your dog does come down with some allergy, salmon-based dog food is the best. Most vegetarian owners anxious to get their dogs on a cruelty-free diet, will find out their dog is allergic to chicken and automatically switch to a vegan kibble when they haven't even tried venison, duck, fish,or lamb, saying that their dog is allergic to meat.

I feed my dog Innova EVO small bites. Perfect. High in protein and low in carbs.Do king charles need a special diet, people have told me to avoid all meat forms,is this true or false, many tha?
for ALL dogs, you want to look at the first 10 ingredients specifically, in all dog foods... this makes up 80% of the food's content. The first and foremost ingredients should be MEAT. (Make sure it says a specific meat, ex: Chicken, Lamb, Turkey.)

You want to avoid WHEAT and CORN as many dogs have allergies to these two items, and they are do not meet the dog's nutritional needs, but are simply a filler.

Also avoid ';Bi-products'; This means it is not muscle, but the feathers, beak, feet etc. of the animal.

';Gluten'; is the product that was in the news not too long ago, it is to be avoided as well. Your best bet is to NOT buy your dog food at the grocery store, but go to a pet shop and read ingredients. I like ';Blue Diamond'; brand from PetSmart personally but there are a lot to pick from.
Some dogs are allergic to various foods just like some people. King Charles Spaniels are no more likely to be allergic to meat than any other breed of dog.

Here are two Web pages for national clubs. Neither mention anything about needing a meat free diet. They do mention a variety of potential health issues that good breeders are trying to breed out of their lines. The people you have talked to are clearly badly misinformed. I would take anything else they told you with a giant grain of salt! You will be able to find a reputable breeder on these sites and lots of good information about the breed as well.

King Charles are a breed of dog. A dog eats meat.

However some dogs in any breed, or a mutt, can sometimes need a special diet. But that's not down to the type of dog, it's down to the possible special needs of the individual dog (is that English?)

So what you have been told is false lol.
Try him on small amounts of food first, Hills is a very good one and it was recommended to me by my vet. Sometimes dry is better than wet but it is up to you. Just don't over feed him.
What!!?? Sorry, It's absolute rubbish!

Dogs are carnivores first and foremost, they need meat as their principle and main food source.

Feeding dogs anything else is animal cruelty in my opinion.
Dogs are carnivore. They eat meat. Feed a high quality kibble and keep the vaccinations to a minimum and you'll be fine.
Your dog is a descendant of the wolf, of course he eats meat. All dogs are carnivores.
no, dogs eat meat. not just certain kinds of dogs. all dogs eat meat.
It's false. Normal dog food is perfectly fine for him.
Is a King Charles like a Prince Albert?
